OUR CLEAN COMMITMENT
See what ingredients Veriphy chooses to avoid and why
At Veriphy, we strive to give you the highest quality clean products that provide you with the results you deserve! We create innovative formulations without chemicals that contain typical irritants or allergens.
Sulfates are a sulfur containing salt that is used in cosmetics as a detergent and surfactant. What this means it is works to strip the skin of the dirt and oils that build up throughout the day, they also create the foaming lather we associate with getting clean. Unfortunately, they are very harsh and disrupt the skin natural balance causing irritation.
Parabens are used as preservatives in personal care formulations to keep bacteria and fungi out of products. Parabens have been linked to hormone disruption and although more data needs to be published regarding their health effects, the consumers prefer it is removed.
Mineral oil is a colourless oil used as an emollient in cosmetics products. We chose to leave it out due to possible carcinogenic links.
Phthalates have historically been added to cosmetics such as nail polish as a plasticizer, in hairspray, and in fragrances. There has been evidence to suggest that they can act as an endocrine disruptor and has been linked to reproductive toxicity.
Used ubiquitously throughout cosmetic products, fragrance is used to improve scent. The downside comes from disclosure loopholes that allow for hidden ingredients masked under the general term “fragrance” and that fragrances are generally irritating.
Silicones are used in cosmetics to improve sensory application and to make products feel luxurious. They can irritate acne prone and sensitive skin and consumers prefer it removed.
Ethoxylating cosmetic ingredients, used as cleaning agents are produced using a carcinogenic compound and can be contaminated with a carcinogenic by-product.
EDTA is a chelating agent acting to protect cosmetic products from instability over time. This ingredient can be dangerous in combination with other ingredients as it can increase penetration of unwanted chemicals.
Propylene glycol is used in various cosmetic products as a humectant to increase moisturization and to protect against extreme temperatures. There are concerns regarding the penetration into the skin.
Formaldehyde donors are added to cosmetic products as preservatives. Formaldehyde is a known carcinogenic and can be irritating to the skin.
